Picasso, Pablo
Pablo Picasso (1881 –1973) was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor. He is one of the most recognized figures in 20th-century art. He is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. Jardins a Vallauris, 1953 is a signed lithograph of a garden in Vallauris, France. Picasso was living in the small town of Vallauris on the Cote d’Azur in 1953. It is an important year in Picasso’s life because he created most of his ceramic work during this period. These hand pulled etchings were published by Jacqueline Beaux-Arts in conjunction with Marina Picasso. These original etchings in edition of 500 numbered works and 34 HC's were created after a work of art by Pablo Picasso, signed, numbered and sealed by Marina Picasso as authorized by the estate of her late grandfather. Upon completion of the edition, the plates were defaced and destroyed by Marina Picasso. There are no prior limited editions or restrike limited editions of these images.
