Minah, Greg

For Greg Minah, painting is a unique, physical act. He creates his lyrical canvases through a process that involves first pouring paint on the canvas and then spinning, tilting and turning the canvas to create a desired effect. Each painting contains numerous layers, and each layer informs how the next is applied. Often times Minah will strip layers away, leaving just the ghostly outline of the form. Minah lives and works in Baltimore, MD. He was a finalist in the 2009 Trawick Prize and Bethesda Painting Awards. In 2010, he was awarded an Individual Artist Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
