J. Ford Huffman is a man of many talents. He is an artist, editor, art director, writer and designer. Huffman is a DC local. He studied art at West Virginia University and the Art League in Alexandria, VA. This body of work titled “All the stages are worlds” is a group of 41 wall hanging sculptures in the form of assemblage shadow boxes. The proscenium arch is the box. What happens inside is the artistic production directed by Huffman. The sculptures are whimsical, enigmatic and address the formal elements of art: line, color and form. Huffman’s expertise in art design for international and national newspapers is evident in his fine art. This is Huffman’s first solo show. He is concurrently exhibiting three more assemblage works as part of the group show “Pandora’s Box” at Target Gallery in the Torpedo Factory of Art in Alexandria.
