Fullerton, Travis
Photographer from Richmond, VA. He has his MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), one of the leading MFA programs in the country. He is currently a professor at VCU. These 3 series of his work focus on the idea of place. Whether it is part of an urban landscape (overpasses, parking garages, amusement park, bridge etc.) or a natural landscape (river beds, vines, shorelines), he captures a place and forces the viewer to consider it in context of its location. He wants the viewer to question how a place or a detail of a place fits into the viewer's existence or world. His work challenges the viewer to consider how he or she relates to a place on an emotional and physical level. The artist’s work is technically mature — evidence of his training and education. His contemporary framing, is an integral to the presentation of his work, and further enhances his craftsmanship. Fullerton has exhibited over ten times in 2006.
