Adams, Wayne
A painter from Brooklyn, New York. He has his MFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis. He currently teaches at the Cooper School of Art in New York. In an article on ArtNet, writer and art historian Charles Finch referred to Adams work from the Family Series as “Richteresque.” Adam’s father Ken Adams died when he was a baby. In 2003 Wayne Adams’s mother gave him a box of photographs. These were photographs that his father took of their family, friends and life in the 1960’s and 1970’s in their midwest town of Grand Rapids, Michigan. These photos are the subject matter of Adam’s work. By painting these characters and events, Adams has gone through a cathartic process of getting to know his father. Adams has been exhibiting his work for 10 years. He has shown with Pole Position in Brooklyn and Rob Buckly Gallery in New York City.
